Vostro 3584 clean installation of Windows 11

Hello, everyone. I know that Vostro 3584 meets all the requirements of Windows 11 except the CPU model (i3-7020U, 7th gen). Should I try a fresh installation of Windows 11, or it could prove useless? Thanks in advance.

If you are currently running Windows 10 you possibly can clean install Windows 11 using the Windows 10 key. However you have an unsupported system and this YouTube video spells out the Microsoft conditions for running Windows 11 on an unsupported system, mainly a waiver that you will have to agree to. What can happen is that you may not get certain updates for the OS or at some period down the road MS may inform you that your system cannot run Windows 11 any longer. I would very strongly suggest, as @speedtest has pointed out a number of times, that you back up your entire drive so that you can recover Windows 10 if Windows 11 does not run properly or run at all. It can be frustrating to find that everything on your system meets the requirements except the CPU but MS has drawn a line in the sand for system requirements.

Now to add insult to injury Intel has released drivers here for their CPU integrated graphics (including the i3-7020U) which are Windows 11 compatible. So in effect you have a CPU that MS says does not meet system requirements but Intel has seen fit to release Windows 11 compatible graphic drivers for.

Thanks for your interest. I guess I'll stick to Windows 10 till things are sorted out.

A great idea! I suspect that things may change down the road if the Windows 11 rollout does not go as planned for MS. But time will tell and as you stated probably best to wait for the time being as stick with Windows 10.
