Gary- So, you're saying there is no difference?

Sorry don't know , checked Microsoft info but doesn't say.
Have set mine to let System but it didn't change current size so perhaps using System doesn't have a Max size whereas Custom does. ?

'To have Windows choose the best paging file size, click System managed size. The recommended minimum size is equivalent to 1.5 times the amount of RAM on your system, and 3 times that figure for the maximum size.'

This suggests to me that those are the settings that option uses, but it does not explicitly say so.It certainly sets the minimum at 1.5xRAM on my system, but maybe it would go beyond 3xRAM if needed (I've never been in that situation, so don't know).

Thanks JR for that Microsoft site.  I had messed up the paging file and didn't know what the settings were.  I have 512 megs of ram so I set my "D" drive to min=768 and max=1536.  For my "C" drive I set to "no paging"  to stay off the system files drive (recommended in the article).
