Reinstall WIndows 11?

Just Checking.

I think I need to reinstall Windows 11 this weekend. I'm having some problems and I think a clean install would be the best way to go.

I have done clean installs with Windows 10 every time there was a new version and never had a problem. But I haven't tried this with Windows 11.

I am not familiar with TPM and Secure Boot. Can I just reinstall using Windows Media Creator like with Windows 10, or do TPM and Secure boot cause problems with a clean install I don't know about?

Thanks

This web page from Microsoft has a very nice explanation on reinstalling Windows 11. You should not have to change any settings with TPM and Secure Boot. I have reinstalled Windows 11 a number of times without touching those settings. Remember you had to have TPM and Secure Boot enabled in order to upgrade or clean install initially. A reinstall is simply a clean install again.

That's what I was hoping. Thanks

Let me ask, why, at this point, do you want to up-grade to 11?  I such received a unit with 11 Home on it to custom configure, and the Taskbar redo is pathetic.  Reportedly, this will be fixed in 22H2.

When 11 is finally fixed, you can use a 10 license to upgrade it.

Like most MS new releases, it takes 2 releases to thoroughly debug it.

I ended putting on retail Win 10 Pro, and using Open Shell to go back to the classic, well-designed XP interface.

Note - To put a retail version onto a UEFI BIOS, you will need to create a 4-line 'ei.cfg' file to go into \sources directory.

[EditionID]
Professional
[Channel]
Retail

This forces the installer to ignore the stored Dell OEM licensing info.

wlsalomon,

I did a clean install of Win 11 the day it was available. So I've been using it for a while now. I was thinking of doing a clean re-install because I was having a problem with a few apps.
