m17 R4, second SSD, Windows 11 not seeing new drive

Hello everyone,

Last Saturday, 10/23/21, I went to my local Best Buy and after some contemplation, I purchased a new Alienware m17 R4 from them. It came with 16 Gig ram and 1TB of M.2 memory. I thought that would be sufficient for my needs. Except however, when I went to download Call of Duty, it wants to take up 1/4 of my drive. Solution - add a second M.2 SSD to my computer.

Today I added the new M.2 SSD. specifically an Inland 2TB - 3400 MB/S read speed, 3000 MB/S write speed. I asked the gentleman at Micro Center if this would work and he told me yes. I came home and installed the new drive and when I go into the BIOS portion, the BIOS sees the new drive. However, when I boot into Windows 11, Windows doesn't see the new drive.

I assume I may have missed a step somewhere, but I would appreciate any assistance.

Update - after posting and before anyone responded, I did some additional research and found instructions to use the Disk Management portion of Windows 11. There I saw the second disk and through the program, I was able to enable and format the drive. I now have both the factory drive (C: drive) the new drive (D: drive). I now have access to both drives and all is well. Thank you for your assistance everyone.

The drive needs to be partitioned and formatted before the operating system will see it.

This shouldn't be a problem if it shows up in the bios. That would be a problem.
So, does it show up in Device Manager, Windows Explorer?
