inability to generate thesaurus supposed to be bundled in Dell/Windows XP

My Dell Desktop came with Windows XP (home edition) software originally bundled into the computer. I am now beginning a career in writing and tried to access the Thesaurus feature that is supposed to be in XP.  I have followed the Instructions I got through office assistant to generate the Thesaurus, but reached a dead end when I tried to “reinstall” the thesaurus (at the suggestion of Microsoft, who provided a web site destination to obtain a free download.  What do I do now?

The thesaurus is not part of Windows but MS Office. Did you get MS Office with your computer?

By the way, this font is very small.

Leeander,

The thesaurus should be available to you through Tools|Language in Word or through Shift+F7 with your selected word highlighted. Does it appear there?

What was the URL Microsoft referred you to?

Thanks for the help--it worked fine! I didn't need to go the Microsoft URL route after all!
