I'm prompted to activate my Office license to use the products.
The Office apps (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) were all installed when I received the laptop. When I open one of these apps, I'm prompted to activate my Office license to use the products.

New computers come with the opportunity to purchase Office. It does not come with Office unless you selected it when ordering and paid for the subscription. Like everything else now, it's a subscription.

If you had Office installed onto a prior system, you can use that product key to have that same Office product activated on your new system, as long as it has been removed/disabled on the older computer.
Microsoft also has an Office 2021 version that you can purchase as a one time buy for one time user that is about the same price as Office 365 subscription.
