I NEED A CERTAIN VERSION OF JAVA

ok so quick story:

i have java versions 6U21 and 7U40

here is the problem:

in my physics class, my teacher assigns these online animations for homework. unfortunately my laptop doesn't run them with these versions of java. however, i did see the version of java the school computers were using to run them was java 6 update 14.

could someone please give me a link to the download?

i run a windows 7 dell inspiron N5010 laptop. x64 bit.

i use Mozilla Firefox.
-i would prefer the java to be for Mozilla Firefox.

now,

i need this driver asap as i have to do these animations by tomorrow.

thanks, inverno4661

ok i used the mozilla firefox link to javas main site, whereas they have a button, "download free java" or something

i click it

it installed,

now i have java 7 update 40(x64) and java 7 update 40.

neither of those work on firefox, it keeps saying i need a plugin, but i can tfind the plugin.

however, the animation does work on internet explorer.

You don't think that your programs are not running is because they have errors in them?

It is unsafe to run anything except the latest release of Java on your computer.

Previous versions of Java 6 are available at www.oracle.com/.../java-archive-downloads-javase6-419409.html

7-40 is the latest. one might argue that a program/animation that works with only one version of the JRE is a problem and is either poorly-written or in need of an update :)

You need to sign in (or create an account) to download the archived JRE's. If that is not ok with you (which should not be a big deal), then you'll have to see if you can find a download on a more questionable site (like Softpedia or CNET).

that link brings me to the downloads, but i need the exact download. im not going to create an account

and no, i have not had any problems with the other versions of java, in fact, i had java 6 update 20 installed as well, all 3 for the past year. never had a problem. i removed it because i have 2 java 6s installed. i thought removing one might make the animation work.

the current 2 i ahev, does not run the animation, as it is old.

the school laptops have JUST java 6 update 14 installed, so it must be the one that makes it work.

however, i need a java runtime enviroment.

im not sure what the difference is, but

 i ahve just "java 6 update 21 " and "java 7 update 40 "

perhaps i jsut need the latest runtime enviroment

Be sure to "enable" Java, if you are using Firefox:
