error message: Error Number: 0x800CCC0E
I just received my new Dell computer with Windows XP and SP2. I cannot send emails using my email account by outlook express. I get the following message.
"
The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'pop.gmx.net', Server: 'mail.gmx.net', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): Yes, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E
"
I was told that the personal firewall is blocking the communication thru the Port 25. I don't know what to do. Could you please help!!

You probably have this staightened out by now but if you don't the following statement from a hypernews.org forum thread sounds like it will be the fix.
"Call your ISP and make sure your smtp settings match what the ISP will allow. Hopefully this will alleviate your sockett error 10060."
