Hi jesseniadlr, Downgrading your operating system will not effect your warranty, as your warranty only covers your hardware. HERE is an journal on how to install XP.

The first issue, are there XP drivers for your PC's hardware?  Some that have shipped with Vista are supported for XP by Dell and there are drivers on the Dell downloads.  If there are no Dell Windows XP drivers you will have to search other sites to try and come up with drivers that will work.  That can be an issue with some hardware.  Basically "do your homework" before you install XP.
