7506 2n1 Black Edition - Windows 11

I have the Black Edition of the 7506 2n1. I see that the 7506 2n1 is on the list for Windows 11 testing. I also notice that you can actually upgrade to Windows 11 using the Windows Installation Assistant (although it does suggest waiting until Windows Update pushes it).

So, will it be OK if I go ahead and upgrade? I notice that the 7506 2n1 Black Edition does now ship with Windows 11, so am guessing that it will be OK, but any thoughts would be welcome

Thank you

Yes it is OK for you to upgrade to Windows 11. This web page has more information on the stepped rollout (which is something they also did for Windows 10).

If you are on the compatible list, you can absolutely use the Windows IA.

Thank you. I suppose I was concerned because the compatible list refers to 7506 2n1 and not specifically the Black Edition. Didn't know if the 4K Screen or the touch pen might make a difference. Or, perhaps the reference refers to all 7506 2n1 editions. And in any case, I guess if my model is now shipping with Windows 11 it is OK?

Subsidiary question - why might Windows Update recommend that I wait - I see that the Installation Assistant is very well hidden away on the Windows website.

Thank you. So, final question. With an upgrade, will the Dell Support Assist automatically know I have Windows 11 when it comes to checking for drivers etc, or will it think I have the system (Windows 10) that it shipped with

I have the Black 7506 too. I did an upgrade to Win 11 from 10 (not a fresh install). After Win 11 loaded, the Start menu did not work. I click on it and nothing happened. I tried numerous tips found on the subject. Nothing worked until I removed the Iris XE Max graphics card from Device Manager and rebooted. Now the Start menu works like it should.

Hope all goes well for you!

Hi,
I am trying to upgrade my 7506 to windows 11 using windows 11 installation assistant.
its completes the initial steps of downloading and installing while system is on.
but when it goes on black screen for applying the updated it goes till 75% and after that i get message "undoing changes made to your computer" and system restarts back with windows 10. (no update).
can you please help me with if any specific change you done in system to get this upgrade successfully install.

Just a thought, have you tried running Microsoft PC Heath Check? It was on the page 6 Indium provided a link for. Perhaps that would point to something that would prevent Win 11 from loading.

Did you get an error code when it said it was reverting? I've read that some folks get a code string about the error. I have no idea if Win 11 creates a log that can be accessed afterwards.

Win 11 loaded without doing me having to do anything. Sorry, I have no idea what could be preventing Win 11 from loading on your laptop. Hardware wise, you are good. I have read that some programs will prevent loading. There are videos on youtube about this. I would think Dell would help you out.

I have the same problem as you.  I have a suspicion that it is the video drivers possibly.
