VxRAIL Hostname Iteration Question
Hello, The VxRAIL spreadsheet seems to force an iteration on the hostnames - numerically or alphabet. Is this hardcoded to be required? Or is it possible to bypass this with a customer's standard that doesn't have an iteration appended to it? For example, I want to have "server01p/server02p/server03p/etc" versus "server01pa/server02pa/etc"
Is this possible through the GUI installer? Json?
Haven't been able to find any docs yet that call this out, so was looking for a sanity check if anyone happens to know the answer - thanks!

Have already checked Solve Desktop? There are all VxRail procedures documented.
If you not familiar with Solve Desktop you can find more info here: https://community.emc.com/docs/DOC-57035
Cheers!

Hi echolaughmk,
In the initial setup after 4.0.200, you can specify the starting iterator with offset and suffix for host names.
For example, you set the prefix "vxesxi" ,separator "-", numeric "00X", offset "5", suffix "a",
the hostnames are set as vxesxi-005a.rail.local, vxesxi-006a.rail.local, vxesxi-007a.rail.local, vxesxi-008a.rail.local, ...
It can be set in GUI or JSON.

Thanks kawaman. It sounds like that verifies my thoughts that the interator cannot be removed from all the docs I have already read - which is what the customer wants to do to stick to their standards. Even the new checklist/install doesn't seem to allow that iterator to be ignored form the config.
thanks,
