VxRail 7.0.3 maintenance mode

Hi everyone:

One question, how can I put a host in maintenance mode? When I try to do it, it appears that I can't put it because there is a vCLS machine that prevents it.

The only way I've been able to try to work with a host like that is by using VxRail's Shutdown Host option.

Please your help with it.

vCLS VMs are usually controlled from vCenter EAM service.
Automaticaly, it will be shutdown or migrate to other hosts when entering maintenance mode.

If it is not, it may have some troubles about vCLS.
You can disable vCLS VMs by change status of retreat mode.

How did you try to put maintenance mode ?
As shirano2 mentions, vCLS is controled by vCenter service (EAM), so it is needed to be put maintenance mode by vSphere Client (vCenter GUI).

If you try it via Host Client or CLI, it may fail because of vCLS.

I've tried, but I get the message that it won't run until I move all the VMs. In the case of the vCLS VM, when trying to move it, it says that it can cause problems, how real is this for cluster stability?

I recommend you to open support ticket if the issue still exist even when you follow a right step to put maintenance mode.

In my experience, the similar issue had occurred after i restarted a whole cluster.
In that case, the issue is cauced by that I forgot to restart vsan service after powering on cluster because i did perform vsan shutdown method, not vxrail shutdown method.

or you can take a workaround if you want to simply put it maintenance mode.

I'm sure that you can move vCLS VM to another host safely though GUI shows warnings to do it.

Or you can shut it down, it is also safe when the other vCLS VMs are running.

Perhaps, vCenter EAM service is not healthy, then causing the issue, so you can try restart vCenter server to fix it.
