Make sure no Firewall is blocking the communication

Login to VxRailManager and ping vCenter using the name specified in JSON

Use simple password based on VxRail rules for management user. Login to the vCenter with this password to make sure it works.

Remember the requirements to join an external vCenter

  • FQDN of vCenter and FQDN of the PSC (if is external to the vCenter)
  • The version of vCenter should be minimum 6.0U2 w/ build 3634788
  • A “VxRail management” user created in SSO that has no role assigned. VxRail will makes a new role and assigns it to the user.
  • The Customer Supplied vCenter Server administrator username/password
  • A unique name for the new VxRail cluster. VxRail will create this and it must not exist already.
  • Verify the DNS server can resolve all VxRail ESXi hostnames.
  • Modify the default IP address for VxRail Intial Configuration.

I am going to redeploy a vcenter having requirements as per VXRail Vcenter Planning guide h15844. I will provide update of the outcome shortly.

So its related to the VXrail management user which in our case we had not created. Once we had it created it was able to join the external Vcenter. Also not to forget the DATACENTER and cluster names.

However the appliance was a POC one i had to install at customer. At customer site, i  was having same problem as my first post. Appliance was brought office to further testing and in my lab it worked.

I will have to redeploy it at customer and pay attention to domain which customer had. As the SSO was renamed to another domain such as vsphere.comany.local also they integrated with AD on another domain such as company.mu.

But at customer site i had the vxrail management user account created but i am not sure on which domain it was created.

Since now i have a good understanding of how it worked i will have to check it at customer and see.
