Configuring VXRAIL with switchs VDX6740B
Hello VDXRAIL members:
We´re doing the deployment of two VXRAIL appliances with two switches VDX6740B. But, we´re facing an issue. In the documentation mentions, connection to one of the switches VDX6740B from a pc or laptop in order to start vxrail manager configuration (the switches were already configured). Here our issue, all our PCs and Laptops have 1 Gb copper connection and all the ports in the switches VDX6740B are 10 Gb Ethernet SFTP+... Therefore, we can not connect one of our pcs or laptops to the switches VDX6740B directly.. So far, the only option that we see is buying a BROCADE 57-1000042-01 1 GE COPPER SFP, but can take around 10 Days have it on site. Can anybody say me if is there any other option to connect a Pc or Laptop with 1 GbE copper to the switch VDX6740B ?? ... and can continue with the configuration ??...
Thank you in advance.

The networking requirement in the deployment guide states:
a. Configure the PC you are using to connect to an address on the same subnet as the VxRail appliance (default is 192.168.10.x/24).
b. Connect your PC to a port on the TOR switch integrated with the VxRail appliance.
Note: This switch port must be configured accordingly to allow proper network connectivity.
c. Confirm that you can ping the VxRail initial IP address (default is 192.168.10.200).
d. Confirm that the gateway is reachable.
e. Work with the customer to confirm that the DNS server(s) are reachable (unless you are in an isolated environment) and that all host names are resolvable ein both forward and reverse look-up.
====
That being said. "PC" could be a server physical or virtual machine running on ESXi that meets the requirement and has access to the vxrail 10g on the VDX6740B.
What did you configure the VxRail vlan to use?
The do make Cooper SFP for the Brocade as well. And that switch does support 1/10/40G
The VDX6740B is a TOR switch and in this case you have two setup for redundancy (see reference diagram below).
The question is how is the environment setup? How would you access the two TOR switches from the Upstream switches? Those would have uplink connection to the TOR used for the VxRail.
Your network team should be able to configure routing for your vlan to meet the requirements listed in Steps 1.a i.e. ping IP 192.168.10.x/24 that address access is necessary to start the VxRail setup process.
Depending on your networking environment.. the choice is yours.
