Re-Install VPLEX VS2
Hi @ll,
I want to re-install our VPLEX some times to train the installation process .
I installed a VPLEX VS2 with GeoSynchrony v5.1 and before I go out to our customers to install it I want to try it with our VPLEX. If it crashes ... no problem . I may find someone to help me fix it.
Is there a procedure which describes all the actions to bring a VPLEX back in a virgin state and re-start the installation from the beginning.
Thanks for your help,
Wolfgang

I´ve got from Juergen the answer to look in the Procedure Generator looking for a systemreset-procedure.
Unfortunately he is on holiday and in the PG is no information. I also have to enable the VPlexadmin-commands. That works fine, but no procedure for Systemreset.
Nevertheless, there is the "configure system-reset" but there should be no more Metavolume on it. Is is riskless just to uninstall and remove all the metas and then use the system-reset command?
Cheerio,
Wolfgang

Hello Wolfgang,
You should first destroy the meta-volumes used for backup:
Example:
meta-volume destroy VNXWOL_META_backup_2014Jan27_223001
meta-volume destroy VNXWOL_META_backup_2014Jan27_203001
And then you can cleanup the active meta-volumes:
VPlexcli:/> script -i VPlexadmin
VPlexcli:/> configuration meta-volume-cleanup
Cleaning up the active meta-volume on a system is extremely disruptive and will result in the loss of all configuration data. There is no turning back or recovery from destroying meta-volumes. For safety, this command will not clean up meta-volume backups or non-active meta-volumes. If you are using this command as a step prior to a configuration system-reset, all non-active meta-volumes and meta-volume backups should be first destroyed using the meta-volume destroy command.
Are you sure you want to continue and delete the active meta-volume on this cluster? (Y/N): Y
And then yoy can do the rest:
VPlexcli:/> configuration system-reset
And then wait for 15-20 minutes
Rgds,
Francis
