Metadata volume need to be zeroed out even if the LUN is thick LUN ?
Hello,
I implemented some VPLEX and Metro cluster VPLEX.
Prior to configure the VPLEX, the configuration guide ask to have metadata LUN to be zeroed out, why is this needed ?
If the LUN is created as thick LUN on a VNX (5200 for example), does the Metadata LUN need to be zeroed out ?
It's a complicated step in fact, when you don't have linux server.... and most of time my customer don't have linux server

Hello Romain,
The metadata LUNs have the information for the Vplex, so it has to be zeroed out to make sure that the information on the LUN is only from the Vplex.
And yes, the thick LUN has to be zeroed out too.
