Boot Sequence in BIOS is empty, Legacy option is greyed!

As subject, my new Vostro 5568 has problem when i installed M.2 SSD. Now it doesn't have anything on Boot Sequence and I also cannot change to Legacy on Boot list option (it's greyed), when i boot up to windows, i have to use F12 to choose the drive, if not, it say "No bootable devices found". I tried to re-install windows, upgrade BIOS to newest version and even downgrade back to curent version, but its still the same.

Below is my screenshots:

Please help me to solve this.

Thank you so much!

Since you mentioned this happened after you installed an M.2 SSD, I'm guessing you cloned your Windows instance?  In that case your cloning application probably didn't register the instance of the bootloader file on the target with the UEFI firmware.  You may be able to manually add a boot entry by following the steps in the post marked as the solution in this thread.  That file name in the last screenshot is Bootx64.efi, fyi.  Otherwise, try a different cloning solution.  Macrium Reflect Free does this properly.  Worst case if a new drive doesn't boot, you boot into its Rescue Media and run "Fix Boot Problems", since that routine will take care of this registration if needed, among other things.

Hi jphughan,

I have tried to re-install Windows 10 by format all M.2 and HDD, but it's still not working, now I have only way to enter to Windows by press F12 and select M.2 SSD on startup. Otherwise, on the thread you show me, I cannot do that because my Boot Sequence is empty, nothing inside! (I have posted the pictures on my 1st thread)

Any solution for me? please help,

Thanks

If you can, I would try reinstalling Windows 10, because if you installed it the normal way, it should have registered a boot option into the UEFI firmware.  But the fact that you don't have anything in your boot sequence would not prevent you from performing the steps in the thread I linked, because those steps are specifically meant to be used by people who have a Windows installation on their SSD but no boot options, which is exactly your situation.  To complete those steps, you need to click the "Add Boot Option" button in one of the pictures you posted, then click the "..." button to browse for a bootloader file, and use the file browser to select the correct bootloader file on your SSD.  That file definitely exists on your SSD, otherwise you wouldn't be able to boot even with the F12 method.  So if simply reinstalling Windows 10 doesn't resolve this (or you can't do that for some reason), then please read the steps from the thread I linked more closely.  If you still have issues, please post a picture of the specific part where you're not sure what to do next.

Helpful answer. My case didn't be exactly as the post but helped me a lot.

Thank you.
