Vostro 3471, RAM upgrade in warranty period

I am planning to upgrade the RAM, but my PC is under warranty. Can I go ahead and purchase a RAM and put in the slot or should I check with Dell  on this?

Would the warranty being void if i upgrade the RAM by myself ? If I planning to get support from Dell for RAM upgrade it seems a lengthy process like quote creation to order and delivery and then support person to come and fix the RAM.

I need it as early as possible not sure that will happen with quick turnaround with Dell support.

Please suggest the right solution

Thanks

You should refer to the Vostro 3471 online specifications guide to see the supported RAM. Based on which you can choose to purchase the RAM from Dell or from a local computer store. As long as there is no damage caused by you to the system while installing the memory, it shouldn't be a problem. The upgraded RAM would not be covered under your systems warranty and if there is an issue caused due to the RAM, we would be unable to assist.

Unless you buy the ram from Dell it won't be covered.

Your warranty would be for the rest of the system without the ram upgrade.

Adding ram from Dell would not be installed by Dell unless you have onsite support contract.
