Power Supply to Dell Vostro 3268 which video card GTX 750 TI 4GB

Hello guys!

My name is Brendon and I have a Dell Vostro 3268 computer and I'm looking to upgrade.
I've already got more memory and an SSD and I'm thinking about getting a video card like a GTX 750 TI 4GB that holds what I want at the moment, however I would like to put a 600 or 650W REAL 80 plus power supply for a future card upgrade of video. My motherboard is a 0Y2YM6 with 6p + 4p connectors. I am very doubtful which power source to buy, since most connectors are 8+6. Do you have any recommendations for the power supply or would you know if I can use adapters to connect the power supply to the motherboard?

PS: the size of the bag is not a problem, as I plan to change it too.

Thanks advance!

Unfortunately Dell has become highly proprietary as you can see from the V3268 motherboard form factor. This board can not fit any standard case.
ATX psu will have to be completely outside Dell case.
A standard SFX psu may be installed partially outside Dell OEM case.  What I mean by this is you would not be able to close case side panel after you put a standard psu in the Dell case.  SFX psu is taller than TFX psu.

It would be very difficult or nearly impossible at this point.  Vostro 3268 has a SFF chassis and can only take TFX psu like the Dell stock one.

you can upgrade to 500W psu for Optiplex 7080 or XPS 8940.  that is the top psu of this form factor now.  they were hard to get recently due to supply demand out of balance.  the 500W has a 6 pin and two 4 pin.  It will work for your pc.

Alternatively you can upgrade to a standard 24/4 pin ATX psu but it will need to be installed outside case.  you use a off the shelf 24 to 6 pin adapter for your motherboard.

Hello @redxps630

Thanks for the answer.

My idea is to change the case too so that I can use a common power supply.

So, according to what you recommended as an alternative, I could use a 600W 80 plus power supply with a 24p x 6p adapter, right? That would be very helpful.

Hi @redxps630

Thank you very much for your help with my question. I'll think of something about the cabinet. I have some adaptation ideas.
i will buy a 24p power supply with a 6p adapter so i can use the video card.

Have an excellent day.
