Do I Need More Power to handle NVIDIA T400 Graphics card

My Vostro 3710 SFF came with a 180W power supply and integrated graphics. I want to install a dedicated graphics card (NVIDIA T400, max power consumption 30W). Will I need a more powerful PSU?

You can install a 30w T400 to your Vostro 3710 SFF without upgrading the power supply

If I need a more powerful PSU then please suggest the make and model PSU that will work in a Vostro 3710 SFF. Thank you!

Thank you for the information. Even though I may not need a more powerful PSU, could you suggest the make and model of a more powerful PSU for my Vostro? Coincidentally, my Vostro just completely died while I was out of the office yesterday. I’m glad this happened before I purchased and installed an T400. Anyway, after working with on-line Dell support they said it needed a new motherboard and they authorized their on-site repair folks to fix it tomorrow.

The Vostro 3710 has a small form factor chassis and its blue graphics slot is located to close to the PSU.  Therefore, it limits the graphics card to single slot, low profile.  For multi monitors office setup, you can use Quadro T400, P600, T1000.  Switching spinning HDD to solid state drive to reduce heat and gaining some extra power.

Officially, Dell did not validated any discrete graphics options and there is no power option higher than 180w power supply.  Unofficially, users have cross reference and using power supply from OptiPlex.  If you plan to upgrade it to a higher wattages, there are options of 240w and 260w available on e-commerce site and big auction site.

However, it's not an economically feasible choice to invest around $100 USD for a 60w - 80w power gain.  Note that any damage causes by your work and third party parts will not be covered under warranty, just take precaution while working on the system.

Userbenchmark also has some low-watt options.  It does list a GTX 1050 Ti, but it's 75w and out of the question without a PSU with higher watts.  Userbenchmark doesn't list PSU's.
