New Chrome features coming...

Google  will be rolling out an update with settings that help Chrome use up to 40% less memory. The update also includes a new mode that will extend your battery when running low.

Memory Saver and Energy Saver will be introduced into Chrome over the next several weeks for Windows, macOS and ChromeOS.

Memory Saver redirects available memory to only the tabs that you have open and are using. Memory Saver frees memory from tabs you aren’t using at the moment but still plan to use. Inactive tabs will reload when you go back to them.

Energy Saver works when device battery level reaches 20%. Chrome will save energy by limiting background activity and visual effects for websites with animations and videos. So while battery time may be extended, site performance may be reduced.

Either feature can be disabled after the update, and you can exclude some sites from Memory Saver, while still having it enabled for other sites.
