Anti-Rootkit Warning

I've had my Dimension 3100C since new in 2006. Today, my anti-rootkit software (AVG) advised that I had a threat in  a file from star-force.com. The file is held in windows\system32\drivers\sfsync02 and is a .sys file. This file has been on my pc since I bought it and is dated 03/12/2004.

Do I need this file or can it be deleted and can anybody tell me why it should only just have become an issue?

Thanks

Hi White Board Man, and welcome to the forum.

Some info on StarForce is here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/StarForce

It seems to have a dodgy history. It does not get good ratings from WOT:

I don't know why it only shows up now for you, but I 'm sure you can safely delete it. You certainly don't need it.
