Unlock your Generative AI Strategy

10 minute reading time

Introduction

In the dynamic landscape of technology, Generative AI has surfaced as a potent force, redefining business operations across various sectors. This progressive technology transcends the conventional approach of merely predicting outcomes based on existing data. Instead, it focuses on constructing new data and insights, comprehending the underlying context and relationships within the data. The end goal is to derive invaluable insights that can propel business growth and efficiency.

As Artificial Intelligence continues to progress, businesses are relentlessly exploring avenues to harness AI's power to enhance their operations, customer service, and overall productivity. A particular implementation gaining momentum is the use of retrieval augmented generation. This method empowers businesses to tap into large language models' potential without significant investment in time and resources for customization. Businesses can feed these models with specific data about their operations, customers, and data, enabling the AI to generate more precise and pertinent responses.

However, fully leveraging the potential of generative AI requires businesses to comprehend its complexities and establish the appropriate infrastructure in place. This technology, employing machine learning models to generate top-tier content, is revolutionizing industries, and expanding opportunities for businesses. The challenge lies in mitigating the risks, forging the right partnerships, and successfully implementing Generative AI for optimal business efficiency.

Practical Applications of Generative AI in Industries

Generative AI is powered by Transformer models, these models can generate text, graphics, audio, and

even video content. The potential applications of this technology are vast, ranging from customer operations and content creation to software development and sales. For instance, generative AI can be used to create marketing copy, legal contracts, and even write code based on specific requirements.

One industry that stands to benefit immensely from generative AI is healthcare. From patient management and data analysis to documentation and fraud detection, generative AI can revolutionize various aspects of healthcare. For instance, physicians can use intelligent assistants powered by generative AI to gain a deeper understanding of their patients and make informed decisions. Generative AI can also be used to automate the creation and summarization of healthcare documents, improving efficiency and accuracy.

Another promising application of generative AI is in the creation of synthetic data. In industries like cybersecurity, where there may not be enough real-world examples for training models, generative AI can create synthetic data that can be used for training purposes. This can significantly improve the effectiveness of these models and lead to better outcomes.

Validated Design

Retrieval augmented generation works by taking a user's prompt and passing it to    embedding models. These models then identify the most relevant pieces of         information related to the prompt and rank them. This information is then sent to   the large language model, which processes it and generates a response. This     approach is particularly useful for applications such as chatbots and co-pilots, where  the AI needs to provide accurate and contextually relevant responses.

However, while retrieval augmented generation is relatively easy to implement, scaling it can be a challenge. This is where partnerships with Dell and NVIDIA come into play. We’ve collaborated to create the Dell validated design for generative AI with NVIDIA, which includes NVIDIA Nemo, an end-to-end framework for data curation, model customization and training, accelerated inferencing, and retrieval augmented generation.

Implementing Generative AI in Business Operations

A leading provider of independent investment insights have already started leveraging generative AI to streamline their operations. NVIDIA Nemo was able to customize pre-trained models to scan complex documents like SEC filings and investment prospectus and extract insights from them in a faster and more efficient manner.

Similarly, in the field of drug discovery, generative AI is being used to speed up the process of analyzing data and predicting outcomes, thereby reducing the time and cost involved in drug development.

Generative AI models, such as large language models, can answer questions, write essays, summarize texts, translate languages, and even generate creative ideas. These models are trained on a vast amount of data and can generate responses based on the input they receive. For instance, when asked a question, the model will generate a response that is most likely to be correct based on the data it was trained on. This capability can be used in a variety of applications, from customer service chatbots to content creation tools.

However, implementing generative AI in a business setting is not a straightforward task. It requires a robust infrastructure that can handle the computational demands of these models. One popular choice among businesses is the A-100 GPU, which can run a 70 billion parameter model. This GPU offers a balance between performance and cost, making it a viable option for businesses looking to implement generative AI.

In addition to the right hardware, businesses also need to consider their data management strategies. Generative AI models rely on large amounts of data to function effectively. Therefore, businesses need to ensure that their data is clean, unbiased, and in the right format to be fed into these models. This may involve implementing data management platforms and strategies to ensure that the data is ready for use.

Once the infrastructure and data management strategies are in place, businesses can start implementing generative AI use cases. This could involve downloading pre-trained models and feeding them with data using prompts. The models can then be integrated into end applications, such as chatbots or digital humans, to provide value to the business.

In conclusion, generative AI stands as a transformative technology with the capacity to revolutionize various industries and business operations. By comprehending the context and relationships within data, it can generate valuable insights that drive business growth and efficiency. As businesses capitalize on the potential of retrieval augmented generation and generative AI, the opportunity to improve operations and customer service becomes significant. Leveraging the power of large language models, tools and frameworks provided by Dell and NVIDIA, businesses can harness the power of AI in a more efficient and cost-effective manner. However, careful implementation and management are required to ensure they deliver the desired results. The right infrastructure and data management strategies are a must for businesses to fully leverage this technology. By considering their use cases and integrating generative AI into their existing systems tactfully, businesses can utilize the power of generative AI to transform their operations and gain a competitive edge.
