Venue pro 11 assessing what it's status is.

Ok so I just bought a used venue pro from ebay. The guy seemed to think it was still in warranty and part of the blurb seems to point to a 3 year warranty and another part a 8 year warranty but elsewhere it says expired. I added it to my products don't know if you can see it). Also I got a keyboard with it which seems to have a bash on it and detaches on the right side too easily. Not sure if the keyboard is even covered yet but it looks like such a simple fix just the tiny triangular catch looks slightly broken. Is there any way I can get info on if I can get that repaired or if it will cost roughly etc etc? Also I recorded video and it has a high pitch noise on every recording is this normal? I need to test lots out on this is there any testing software advice pages etc as well? Thanks!

Blix00,

Click on Dell Warranty Status and enter your service tag. It will tell you when the warranty expires. If there is an issue, you may want to contact the previous owner and get the issue resolved.

There is a link Registering your Dell Product that allows the transfer of everything, if there is a warranty. The previous owner will have to help with that information.

Update all of the drivers and BIOS.   There is an audio driver fix for the high pitched noise.   For warranty, contact support with the service tag to find out the status.   They can also set up an out of warranty depot repair if needed.

I eventually found the warranty was out of date...slightly confusing though as there was three warranty periods. Anyway I tried to get a quote for fixing this 2mm triangular piece of plastic on the catch and after 2 phones calls lasting 40 minutes and 8 emails this guy quoted £105 which is £5 more than buying a new one from ebay hmm. I guess Dell are not in the repairing game...bad service really £105 for a 2mm piece of plastic (yes I know the whole catch had to be fixed etc.). The guy sounded like he was new but was seriously hard trying to get a quote for it even after sending photos etc...Anyway I have been sent a new one so I should be fine...phew!
