Venue 11 7140 Sleep Issue with Travel Keyboard

I've got a Venue 11 7140 with the Dell Travel Keyboard currently running Windows 10 Tech Preview Build 10162.

Whenever I close the keyboard lid, the laptop correctly goes to sleep and Windows Event Viewer shows it enters connected standby, reason: Lid. At the exact same time, Windows Event Viewer then shows an event exiting connected standby, with reason: User Input. Thus, whenever I close the travel keyboard, the tablet enters and instantly exits connected standby.

If I use a magnetic cover I have, windows properly registers the connected standby enter, reason: lid, and properly sleeps until I open the lid or press a button.

So it seems the tablet keyboard is to blame, and is somehow sending inputs as/after the lid closes. This stops my tablet from connected standby sleep, and instead stays active with the screen off the entire time, totally draining the battery.

Is this an issue with the tablet keyboard being faulty, or is this a known issue that is being worked on?

Wow you're correct! The bottom left edge is actually jutting up above the rest of the area.

The replacement keyboard does not have this problem and is properly sleeping with the lid closed, no more user input event generated.

Hurray!

I suspect this will be resolved once we release a Win 10 BIOS and drivers.   This is not in my known issues list for Windows 10 test on this device.

I just downgraded to Windows 8.1 and am seeing the exact same issue.

When I close the travel keyboard, the machine enters connected standby, and then instantly registers a "User Input" event which exits connected standby.

This only happens with the Travel Keyboard connected, and I have updated everything to latest drivers and firmware available on dell support site.

Is this a faulty keyboard?

More details, it seems to be related to the keyboard touchpad. If I disable the touchpad so it can't be used at all, now when I close the keyboard it properly registers the sleep event, and only wakes up when I open the lid. No more "user input" right after the lid is closed.

Sadly, I need the touchpad to function, so this isn't a true fix.

I've got a replacement keyboard coming, so I hope this is just a hardware issue, but I'd like to know if any others experience this issue?

I'll post an update with the new keyboard when it arrives later this week.

Is your touchpad peeled up or does anything look out of place?   I use one of these every day as a corporate device and haven't had this problem.
