Updating Intel SSD firmware
Hello, I have the new OpenManageEssentials and the firmware compliance report says that some of my servers (PE R340 and PE R420) need an Intel SSD firmware update. Where do I get this? I would like to do the firmware update through the iDRAC (via DUP LC, I guess) and I have only seen the Intel SSD Toolbox application on the internet.
Specifically, I need Intel Youngsville Refresh S4510 RI 480GB SSD SATA6 2.5 512e ISEModel Number: SSDSC2KB480G8RRegulatory Model Number: SSDSC2KB480G8Vendor PN: SSDSC2KB480G8R DL67
The Dell OME link goes to http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/Drivers/DriversDetails?driverId=4RM7F but this is a dead link

Hey there @john.harris,
I guess you meant OpenManage Enterprise, because Essentials was the name of the previous version.
Ok, so for the firmware. I have been looking for the latest version for this Intel 480GB SSD PN: SSDSC2KB480G8R this is the one: DL65. This is the last version available.
What I guess the problem is... a new version was launched for this SSD, the DL67 but it is no longer available. I think it was retired from the download page. That might be the reason why you have this pending firmware update. I guess you can ignore it.
Regards.

Thanks for the link Diego, that update allowed me to firmware the SSDs to D65. Shame the baseline thinks that D67 is the newest version. And yes, you are right I was alluding to OpenManage Enterprise not Essentials. It is confusing to me when both products have the same three letter acronym 'OME'.

I ordered some new drives that came with DL67 and SUU is prompting me to downgrade. should I?
Also asking to downgrade "SAS-RAID Driver MFM32 WIN64 1.2.0.1051 AO1" (From v10.0.17763.1432 to 1.2.0.1051). I presume this is a Windows update driver vs Dell driver situation..

Hi,
If the drives aren't having any issues or any performance degrades, you need not downgrade the firmware.
The driver that you mentioned, perhaps are the drivers between Dell version and Windows version. I gave a quick check, it listed as BOSS driver? Is the system working well with the current driver? I'm just afraid if you do update the Dell driver, it may not work as you intended it to be, as some cards are sometimes listed as not compatible with servers and updating the driver could lead to it being not detected in your OS.
Let me know if it helps.

Drives are working well so I have left the firmware at DL67
System also working well with existing SAS-RAID driver, so left it alone as well.
Thanks for the response!

Hi @sophiakaile,
Well, there are times, where newer firmware is required for Operating System to run and at times, there are bug fixes for the drives to work better.
Let me know if you have any questions.
