R630 - BIOS / iDRAC Upgrade path from FACTORY versions (2014)?
Hi team,
I've been looking everywhere including this forum, and I'm still with conflicting answers so I'd rather ask please:
My R630 came with literally factory BIOS and iDRAC versions:
BIOS 1.0.4
iDRAC 2.01.00.01 A00
If I want to upgrade to latest versions, the safe option seems to be 1 step at a time minus optional versions, that translates to 23x BIOS flashes and 22x iDRAC flashes.
=> Is there a way to shortcut this upgrade path?
@DELL-Chris H@DELL-Shine K@DELL-Charles R@DELL-Joey C - You are eminences in the subject, if you can input it'd be immensely appreciated.
Thank you,
Mauro

You can't upgrade this version to the latest one at a time. First download IDRAC 2.84.84.84, unzip it like the picture above, press the folder name in the red box to find firmimg.d7, copy it to your USB flash drive, and then restart the server to upgrade through the firmware under F10. You can also use your personal computer to connect the IDRAC interface of the server through the network cable to upgrade, most of which can be successfully upgraded, and then upgrade the BIOS to the latest, and then upgrade IDRAC to the latest. If there is an error, then change a lower version, generally two to three times can be upgraded to the latest!

Thanks mate, just so I understand, if that's the case the steps would be:
Does that sound about right? Just trying to make 100% certain.

@hnyr28 do you know how I should be pointing the iDRAC to the firming.d7 file?
I've tried to point it but the iDRAC complains stating:
"File extension not supported or the Update Package is invalid. (SWC0053)
Recommended Action:
Use a valid Windows-based Update Package with an .exe extension."
Thank you,
