poweredge t310 - bios & idrac update
Hi I have a poweredge t310 server, and I tried to update it's BIOS via IDRAC and no matter what files I downloaded, I can't
Needless to say, I cannot access IDRAC without making some changes in TLS in different browsers to the point where I have to install WINDOWS XP in order to access IDRAC
And if the IDRAC caught a file correctly, it writes to me that the file is uploaded and nothing actually happens, and even if it happens, it means that it does an update and comes back in a few minutes, comes back and still nothing.
As if I did nothing and the version is not updated.
Please your help I'm desperate already, and the server has proxmox

If you cant get a modern browser to work try to download a Firefox portable with a version number 5-8 years ago. This is how we access old SSL "protected" GUIs.
Sadly the "Platform" ISO (self booting LINUX) are not available anymore
BTW. The iDRAC and LCC can be upgraded with the command line "racadm" tool(also from remote)

Thank you for your answer and for devoting your time to my solution. I appreciate it very much I was able to update the idrac and the lifecycle. Is it possible to update the idrac6 to 7 or 8?
And proxmox works great on the server

When speaking about iDRAC,7,8,9 think about Hardare revisions an no you can swap a phys. iDRAC8(12Gen Servers) into an old 11Gen Host. Every iDRAC gen have its own software versions. The iDRAC9 is the first one with a way longer lifespan and software starts with 3.x and goes to 4.x,5.x, 6.x and 7.x is around the corner.
Problem with your Old 11Gen Hosts is the remove 11 and 12 Gen Hosts from the update catalogs at the end of the last year.
I cant remember if you can update all FW trough iDRAC7 (for sure iDRAC8 and up can). If you would try it download the win64 version of the DUP and upload it through the iDRAC.

Joerg

As i sayed.... i CANT REMEMBER. But when its possible than its always the ""Windows" version of the DUP (Dell Update Package) that the iDRAC web gui accept.

Ok... i searched for an old 11Gen Host like your R710 and it a iDRAC6 which doesnt supporting other kind of FW ... only iDRAC updates for it self.
If you cant get the DUPs executing under your version of proxmox use a linux liveCD (Centos).

Again.... iDRAC6 an only upgrade itself (LCC is included because its a Combo).
Todays OME, OMIVV want work anymore because 11 and 12Gen hosts are removed from the update catalog.

I have a T310 server, not an R720. I was able to update IDRAC and LIFECYCLE, but I want to know how I update the bios through IDRAC? And what can be done to upgrade the IPM? And how do I use the Virtual Console display console?
