Firmware images - Not monolithic

Can you advise where the IDRAC firmware images can be downloaded directly (1.85+)? The monolithic driver set does not support our software configuration.

Hi @NBard,

You should be looking for iDRAC6_1.85_A00_FW_IMG.exe. The direct download is https://dell.to/3Y8CHXt. It's a .exe zip. It will unpack the iDRAC firmimg.d6 file.

Thank you - is this the latest version supported by this hardware?

Hi @NBard,

No, it is not the latest. You can refer to this link for the various versions: https://dell.to/46YOOKL. It is advisable to update firmware in stages, as the firmware updates required versions. For iDRAC firmware image (firmimg.d6 file) please refer to download filename iDRAC6_X.XX_AXX_FW_IMG.exe

Also, do take note you will need to update both iDRAC and BIOS parallelly. Do check the dates of updates and follow.

And this brings us back to the same issue.

The Monolithic driver set will not work on the OS on the machine in question.  We have tried running it on other machines to see if we can extract the images to manually install, however. after collecting inventory all we receive is an error message "This Update Package is not compatible with your system"

We need the firmware images themselves, without the exe wrapper.  1.85 has installed without issue, but further updates are required.

Hi, you can see the old versions by searching for iDRAC in the keyword section and then clicking older versions next to idRAC below. We do not recommend jumping from very old versions to the latest version. I recommend that you update incrementally. https://dell.to/476izcu

All of the older versions still lead to Monolithic packages, which means we are still circling around the same error.

We need the actual image files, NOT the monolithic packages.

Hi @NBard,

Understood the needs. In my previous reply, please do look out for the file name in the download page. Do look for the filename that contain FW_IMG.EXE in it. It is the packed package, that you need to unpack, it contains the firmimg.d6. So say example, version 1.90 download page, please look for iDRAC6_1.90_A00_FW_IMG.exe. It is the packed package of firmimg.d6.

Hi Joey,

I'm looking at the driver page, however all it has under IDRAC is the monolithic drivers.  Older versions again just lead to Monolithic driversets - there no other IDRAC6 downloads listed.

A search for Idrac6 on the r515 section only brings up the following:

Dell iDRAC Monolithic Release 2.90
Dell OpenManage Connection v3.0 for IBM Tivoli Network Manager IP Edition
Dell OpenManage Connection v3.0 for IBM Tivoli Netcool/OMNIbus

Hi, I don't see other any FW than monolithic ones. But you can try to do as Joey's mentioned unpacked the exe file and reach the firmimg.d6 file used to update.

DRAC - iDRAC6 and iDRAC7 Firmware Flash Procedure https://dell.to/3rQknGH

Another way to update your iDRAC firmware is to download the file and transfer it to a USB flash drive that can boot to DOS. Then, you need to restart the system and boot from the USB flash drive and execute the program. This way, you don’t need the monolithic driver set or the exe wrapper.
