SCA - Cannot discover nor match Cisco UCS hardware

Is anyone able to fully discover Cisco UCS in SCA 3.0?

We use many ESX, Linux and Win hosts on UCS, but SCA is unable to fully discover underlying UCS hardware. I'm returned with either many "Unknown" flags or generic tags like "Cisco VIC FCoE HBA", which really do not help at all. Additionally, the ESM is unable to properly match the hardware (Cisco is not even listed under HBA!).

If we cannot properly discover a large portion of our hardware, than we cannot enable ESM policy (too many breaches due to unknowns), something we would prefer to use, but cannot in this state.

Anyone else experiencing this with SCA and UCS or SCA and any other hardware? Is EMC addressing this issue at all?

Hi,

Cisco UCS is not currently listed as supported within the SCA 3.0 support martix. https://support.emc.com/docu31005_Ionix-Storage-Configuration-Advisor-3.0-Support-Matrix.pdf?language=en_US

I understand this, but really how is this product usable if a major vendor's hardware is not supported?

Just because SCA does not support it, does not mean UCS is not supported on EMC hardware or vise versa. I've already verified this via Cisco's HCL and EMC Interop Matrix.

I guess we cannot use the ESM policy with SCA, or just not use SCA at all in this limited fashion.

If anyone from EMC see this - are there any plans to support UCS in SCA in the near future?

Hernan:

We received the following from product management.

The issue is with the FCoE connection between the individual blades and the chassis – SCA does not currently support FCoE and therefore can’t perform compliance checks on the paths.  We plan to add UCS support to the SRM Suite (including SCA) in our end of the year release.
