Delete obsolete, orphan or duplicate objects in SCA ???

Does anybody know a way to delete object in Ionix Storage Configuration Advisor SCA ?

From the GUI there is no way but can an object be deleted using the dmctl command together with asl scripts ?

I don't understand why this ability isn't still implemented into SCA.

It is horrible to maintain an environment or to use SCA if the half of the object are obsolete and can't be deleted.

This make the SCA mostly unusable.

Hi Hernan/manni,

You are both correct - objects cannot be deleted within the SCA Console interface.  This is something that I confirmed recently in a discussion with SCA Product Management. This functionality is likely to be only available once SCA has been integrated into Watch4Net and/or PrpSphere later this year.

Manni - I have worked directly with EMC on our SCA implementation and I have asked the same question. Unfortunately, the response is that there is no way to readily delete/remove stale objects out of SCA. I also find this rather annoying. One way to get a handle on this is to ensure you control what goes IN to the SCA database, making sure only SAN connected hosts are added because after all, these are the only hosts we care about with respect to SCA. Also, you may be able to remove stale objects into a User Defined Group, as a way of flagging such objects, although I have not attempte this myself. Good luck.

Yes, I've already come to terms with the current situation on the SCA.

It seems the focus are on the other products and the SCA will get replaced by them.

In the current situation the SCA will not be a product for an enterprise environment.

@Hernan - EMC ist already several years aware of this but it seems they wait as the SCA run out of support and will replaced by the product Seamus wrote.

It could only be better ...
