My SD card slot won't work!!!!! This device cannot start. (Code 10)

My problem seemed to begin after a series of updates were prompted to me and installed.  I'm not sure which updates they were, but shortly after I notice my SD memory card for my camera would not work through the SD slot in my computer.  The system information recognizes my card with a yellow exclamation point attachted to it.  This device cannot start. (Code 10) was the error I received.  I have a tried my card on a different pc and it works fine, I also tried unistalling driver and rebooting nothing there, I tried updateing driver and it doesn't find a better match.  I'm not having any luck finding help on other online sites I was hoping the computer savy people in this forum could help me.

I will try it and hope to have some success.

I tried the microsoft patch. It didn't work for my XPS M170 notebook.  Anybody has any idea on how to resolve this issue?

I applied hotfix KB921413.....the computer now sees the drive, but...... I can only access the first jpeg.  I receive errors, etc.   SD card works fine when using a USB card reader.

I am having the same problem, my card reader suddenly stopped working on my Inspiron 6000, even on same cards that worked before. Has anyone found a solution?

gecko123--I had the same problem today on my Vostro 1400.

I spent some time on the phone with support. Eventually, I updated the bios to the latest version (A09). That miraculously fixed the problem.

Otherwise, you should definitely try the Microsoft Hotfix available for download via e-mail from:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/921413

Also, you should update the Ricoh drivers from the Dell support site.

Good luck!

Well I tried all of those... Updating my BIOS didn't do it, the hotfix I think is only for Windows XP, and updating the Ricoh drivers said that I already had the best available.  :smileyindifferent:  Any other suggestions?   please?
