Disc drives list?

Does anyone know where I can find the model # of the disc drives that are availabe on different laptops? I am looking for a laptop with certain model #'s and can't find the info anywhere. Thanks.

No such list exists.  Dell uses hard drives from all six major notebook drive makers - there's no way to compile such a list.

Go to the Dell Outlet store and look for the particular model laptops you are interested in, make a note of some of the service tags and then look those up.  It will show you the drive models in those units.  If you are interested in a certain laptop just ask Dell to include the model hard drive you want. If it is possible I believe they will do it for you.  It may take a little longer to build then normal but you will get what you want.

I'm curious.  Why do you need specific drive models?

I am trying to rip karaoke cds (CDGs), and only specific models of disc drives have the hardware built into them to be able to read both the mp3 music and the text file that you see on the screen.
