Optical drive not detected
Wiki by walkstx, moved from Laptop to Disc Drives.
Here's how a tech solved my DVD not being detected on my XPS M1530:
1. Go to Start.
2. In the Search window at the bottom of Start, enter regedit to open the Registry Editor.
3. Find:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
4. Delete upper and lower filters (or just upper or just lower).
5. Reboot.
