What is SAP HANA ?

I was going thru the discussion on the SAP community and I have been seeing a lot of people talking about SAP HANA. well that got me to Google this because I was a little behind the curve and did not know anything about SAP HANA. See the ECN community gets you to think of thing you normally would not...good place to browse when you have the time. I came across this article I think explains SAP HANA the best.

That is a pretty good article. A couple of things came to mind when read that:

1) How can I utilize EMC infrastructure to protect/enhance HANA?

We have a solution for LiveCache that leverages TimeFinder to protect and restart. Can we use VPLEX, for example, to help create a "collaborative" access model, perhaps streamline the processing of data from one database into HANA, or eliminate the BC/DR dliemma?

2) It's effectively a direct competitor to Greenplum.... How do we make them co-exist?
