I remember, when I attended last TechED in BJ, Saho stated SAP has his own DB, HANA. SAP is extending his territory to infrastructure, as a defense or fightback on Oracle business development on ERP market, SAP treat as his own dish.

it seems that SAP wanted to use HANA to replace all the database of SAP business suite in order to resovle SAP product performance issue. Although HANA currently is an appliance, as i know HANA software could be downloaded by SAP internal and installed on the other hardware ,even on virtural machine. Currently SAP is setting up HANA ecosystem. In China, SAP is pushing and encouraging more and more customers to transform their lagacy database to HANA.
