Data Privacy regulations experience
Community,
Does anybody have any experience to share related to addressing country-specific data privacy regulations for a global company using a single global instance?
I have a customer in the reinsurance industry that's planning to implement a single global instance of SAP but their operations in Germany are affected by regulations that limit the information that could be stored/transmitted outside of the country without putting additional measures in place (encryption, etc.). They are considering splitting their instance between a North America "global" instance and a local Germany instance but would like to see if there are better ways to solve this problem as this would add a lot of complexity to their landscape.

Thanks Bill. Yes, that frames out the challenge they're facing. They're currently reviewing their safe harbor "adequacy" which should cover the requirement of moving data between the EU and the US, but they're looking for examples of how other customers are addressing this challenge. That's why I'm looking for examples from other customers in a similar situation.

There is a large global single instance of SAP in Rochester NY that covers Germany, Spain, ITaly, China, and many other regions that uses SafeHarbor to get around the issues. Let me know if you need any contacts.
