Upgrade Path for Replication Manager
Hi,
We are running Replication Manager version 5.1.0.0 and want to upgrade to at least 5.2..... however I want to know what the upgrade path(s) are. I have looked through the documentation for RM and cannot see anything that gives me this information.
Does anyone know what the path is or preferably have documentation of the upgrade path.
Regards
Colin

First we upgraded the RM Server. This require us to upgrade our version of Solutions Enabler to 6.5.3.0. We had to stop the RM Services, uninstall the Soluations Enabler and then perform a new install. Then we installed RM 5.2.0 choosing the upgrade option. The install did require a reboot because it could not update the necessary java files with out a reboot. After the reboot when we launched RM we got an error message and it would not start. We then reran the setup and selected the repair option and it started right up.
On the client servers (Windows 2003 servers), we had to uninstall the old version of the Solutions Enabler first (having to stop the RM Client Service first) and then install the latest version. Next we installed RM selecting the upgrade option. This install did not require a reboot and was pretty quick.

The document "EMC Replication Manager Administrator¿s Guide" has a section that covers the installation of the product. Look under the "Upgrading RM" subsection for more details. It will answer your question.
If I remember correctly, the short answer to your question is that you can upgrade directly to 5.2 from your current version.
