CIFS Replication from VNX5300 with Replicator & VDM - Different Domains

Hi,

I am trying to figure the best way of replicating CIFS shares between two VNX5300 and need to know if Replicator can do what we need.

The 'source' 5300 had the 4-port 1Gb IO Module and we will use VDMs for the CIFS Shares.

The issue we have is that the local IP connects will be on a local LAN, and this is what the servers will use to connect to the DM ports.

The IP inter-site link is via a separate physical network so if the DM was to be connected to that we need to use separate physical ports.

The question really is can we configure a network device on two of the DM ports, physically connect them locally and mount the CIFS Share on that - and then create another device on the remaining two ports, physically connect them to the other domain and replicate the VDM through the 2nd device?

Hope that's clear.

If not, has anyone got a solution?

many thanks

Absolutely. You will use an interface for CIFS access and another interface for Celerra Replicator.

Thanks Ernes.

This will help us enormously.

when you create replication session you get to specify which interface you want to participate in replicaiton session.
