Recoverpoint For VM 5.3

Hi Team,

Can someone help clarify something about the journal and the Repository.

I just deploy a nex vRPA cluster and just specify a repositore for eac h vRPA cluster on each site, but i didn't have mount any volume on ESX for the journal.

Want to know if is there something wrong?? i watched idan Dell EMC engineer on youtube and not saw a part where he configure volumes for journal.

Is there a difference between Journal and Repository??

Help will be so much appreciate. Thanks

Hello LudoCoul,

There is a difference between journal and repository.  Here is a link to the install and deployment guide as well as the administrator guide that explains more about each. https://dell.to/3pm9gBI

There's certainly a difference, the repository is a VMDK created upon cluster deployment and it contains cluster configuration. Journal VMDK(s) contains the history of writes, the actual PiT data. The prod journal contains a bitmap of offsets/pointers to data that we haven't replicated yet (not the actual data), it would contain PiT data upon failover as it would become the replica journal.
