R730 cannot download firmware updates via Lifecycle Controller

I've tried to update only the LCC to 2.63.60.62 from 2.20.20.20

I've used an SUU iso made by DRM containing only this firmware and this time I got passed over the error stating that I'm not using a proper repository.

But I have a new one, after the download of the software, I'm getting another error:

Unable to authenticate the catalog file in the update repository. (SUP0504)

Recomended Action: Use a repository that has the catalog file from a trusted source and retry the operation. If the catalog is from a trusted source, click OK to proceed without digital signature verification.

I clicked OK and again:

Unable to authenticate the catalog file in the update repository. (SUP0504)

Recomended Action: Use a repository that has the catalog file from a trusted source and retry the operation. If the catalog is from a trusted source, click OK to proceed without digital signature verification.

I once again clicked OK and I got:

Firmware Update

Update Failed: Integrated Dell Remote Access Controller.

E.A.C.,

With the Lifecycle Controller you would need to use the Windows 32-bit Dell Update Package from the download page, make sure to use the 32-bit DUP. The issue is likely due to how out of date the system is, so I would advise not to try to jump to 2.63.60.62 but instead try running 2.21.21.21 - then 2.50.50.50 - after that then you can try everything else through the Lifecycle Controller. Now if the BIOS is also really far behind you will need to walk it up with the LCC/iDrac, as too big of a version gap between the BIOS and iDrac can cause the BIOS to not be able to communicate with the iDrac.

I think the reason you are having the issue because your BIOS and firmware are so far out of date.

Let me know what you see.

Where is the BIOS at currently, did you start walk it up as well?

Also, try another version not quite as far ahead, such as 2.41.40.40

The BIOS is 2.5.2.

I've tried install from the vmware console on the server, the bin file for v2.7.0, but with the same result as the LCC.

I mean, everything seems to ron normally, but after reboot, the bios is still 2.5.2

Now I'll try a lower version of LCC.

Interesting!

Finally, I got to install LCC 2.21.21.21 from a USB stick, but no matter how many tries I've did, I didn't get to install 2.50.50.50.

All the process runs as it should (or at least it seems like running as it should) and after the reboot, I'm finding that I still have 2.21.21.21

Hi how about using Update all the firmware for your Dell PowerEdge servers in one step via the ISO images (ISO-files)” instead of SUU?
