7609WU, Horizontal position, to far right

Hello all,

have a Dell 7609wu projector. Students and teachers plug in via VGA.Sometimes when people plug in the image on the projector will shift ALL the way to the right. Auto adjusting will not fix it and the only way to fix it is to go into the horizontal settings on the projector and scroll it alllll the way back to center it which is of course not ideal .

Some people seem to have this problem every time and some people don't. I think it has to do with resolution of their laptop but I don't understand why. Was able to reproduce the issue on a laptop that did not have the problem by dropping the resolution down from 1370x768 (which is the native resolution) to 1024x768. Putting it back solved it.

Any thoughts on what is going on here? thanks much.
