Dell Backup and Recovery for Windows 10 -- Really???

So I was updating Dell Backup and Recovery after upgrading to Windows 10, and I hit the "Finish" button when the process was complete.  Dell Backup and Recovery then restarted my PC without asking me if I wanted to do so, and while I had a number of unsaved files open.  REALLY, DELL???  Your program that's supposed to prevent data loss is designed in a way that causes data loss???  Are you kidding me???

And it still doesn't look like there's any way to turn off the obnoxious notification boxes that keep showing up and asking me if I want to upgrade.  I especially love it when those boxes pop up in the middle of my screen when I'm trying to give a lecture.

just open extended services and switch all dell entries and SftSerices(Soft Think Agent Service SAS) from automatic or delayed start to manual and it did not pop up notification, what else messes up, don't know yet but at lease got rid of backup and recovery notifications with out uninstalling it.

To delay loading of Services, Run services.msc, to open Services Manager

I never plan to spend money to upgrade the dell backup and recovery.  I get the notification every day now in windows 10 and there is no way to stop this annoying popup.

Go to Control Panel, and then Windows Update. Check in the bottom left corner for a link to Installed Updates. Look down the list for a Windows patch named KB3035583, which can be uninstalled by right-clicking on the entry and selecting Uninstall. Windows being Windows, you will then be prompted to completely restart your computer. But once you do, the Windows 10 icon should be absent from your Taskbar's notification area.

I don't think they are talking about he Windows 10 icon in the taskbar.  I believe they are talking about the huge, intrusive notification windows from Dell Backup and Recovery that pop up in the middle of one's screen asking if one wants to upgrade, etc.

Now 11/25/2015, and Dell's popup ad for Dell Backup and Recovery Basic is haunting me because I cannot make it STOP!!   Google searched without success.  Computer searched without success.

Make it stop popping up EVERYTIME I start the computer no matter which choice "Learn More" or "Do Nothing" or the kill it X in upper right corner.   Nothing works to make the computer the way I want it.    who owns this computer?  I sure donot have control over Dell's design.   this is minor problem in grand scheme but it is enough of an annoyance to make me think hard and fast about buying another Dell and my family currently owns six computers.   what a pain.......

Help!!!!!

Again ...

Have you ever seen HP or Lenovo?! I'm guessing not. You will not escape this kind of stuff with OEM systems.

Fix 1: Uninstall it. It's necessity is questionable.

Fix 2: Do a clean install of Windows, then only the stuff you want installed is installed.

Fix 3: Don't shut down your computer. Shutting down your computer on a daily or regular basis is no longer necessary or recommended.

You have complete control over your computer. When you order it from Dell (or any OEM), you agree to their factory installs, but you don't have to live with it.

Interesting mhameed. How do you open extended services? This daily pop-up window advertising premium is really obnoxious and makes me less likely to buy a Dell again.

This problem was so annoying that I uninstalled the program.

Very Frustrating!

Dell Model 3646 was installed with Windows 8.1  (Not thrilled with 8.1)

I upgraded to 10, I also "bought" the Dell Premium Edition Back-Up.  The Dag Gone Computer still wants me to "Buy" Cloud and gives me the Back-Up and Recovery System is at risk.

Also just extended the Hardware & Software Warranty and was told by Dell, that They would not cover Windows 10.

I just did the same thing, uninstalled the backup and restore program.    I have both a Dell desktop PC and a Dell laptop, but these extremely (and intentionally) intrusive, annoying popups have really soured me to Dell for future purchases.

Not only that, but it's ridiculously greedy anyway for a computer company to try to hold their computer customers hostage by charging them for the "privilege" of restoring their Windows 10 computer data!  Unbelievably boneheaded customer relations move!  There are far too many ways to back up and restore one's computer for free.  These are things I will be thinking of next time I shop for a new PC or laptop..
