922ENA04.exe, file extension is installing as ex_

I have been working on my Dell AIO Printer 922 for 2 days now.  I uninstalled and reinstalled it 4 times.  I followed the instructions given in this forum for numerous errors I am getting with the printer.

I noticed when I ran the 922ENA04.exe and looked in the programs file folder for the printer, the extension names of the files are incorrect.  The dlbtjswx.exe looks like dlbtswx.ex_ and the dll's are dl_.  I ran Norton, Malwarebytes, Adware, Windows Defender and they all come up clean.

Any suggestions on why this is happening?  I cannot print anything at this time from Notepad, Word, PDF, etc.  I really need my printer.

 Loreli,

Make and model of your computer and operating system is helpful. 32-bit or 64-bit?

First try running Delete Print Jobs to remove any stuck print jobs in the queue.

Disconnect the printer.

Download and run the patch(printer cleanup utility) until it prompts you to restart your computer.

Restart your computer. Make sure the printer is removed. Manual Printer Driver Removal

Download the proper drivers. If using Windows 7 32-bit, try downloading the Vista 32-bit drivers. If using Windows 7 64-bit, try using the Vista 64-bit drivers. Install the drivers in the Vista Compatibility mode You'll get a message, the printer is not connected. Connect the printer at this time(powered on)
