Using 2 Docking Stations
The goal - 4 monitors, @1920x1080 ea.
The computer: Precision 7520 w/ Quadro M1200 (i7 6820HQ, 32GB RAM)
I have an old fashioned docking station (Dell E-Port Replicator PR02X) that I use with my machine currently, which supports 3 monitors, all running from the GPU. (1 @ VGA, 1 @ DVI, 1 @ DP)
I'd like to add a universal dock (D1000, D3000, D3100, or D6000) via USB C to run 2 monitors and then run 2 off the GPU from the PR02X. The 2 from the PR02X would do the heavy lifting and the 2 on the universal dock using DisplayLink would be for general e-mail, web browsing, windows explorer, and other things with minimal video requirements.
Can I use both docking stations simultaneously? The universal dock would only be used for monitors - no networking, USB, power charging, etc.
If so, does the Universal dock need to be powered (since laptop power is supplied through PR02X)? I'm wondering if having 2 docks supplying power would be bad and short/blow up/BSOD/etc...
I don't want 4 monitors on DisplayLink; I use CAD and need the Quadro to power 2 of the monitors.
Thanks for any insight.
