Precision 5570 + Dell Thunderbolt Dock WD22TB4 + Dell 34 Curved Gaming Monitor S3422DWG = native resolution 3440x1440 over HDMI not working

Dell Thunderbolt Dock – WD22TB4

Dell Thunderbolt Dock – WD22TB4

hello Dell groupies

beside Precision 5570 i have tried also with Lenovo T14S Gen5 and i have the same issue.

Operating system: Windows 11 Pro/Enterprise

S3422DWG - latest firmware M3C107

WD22TB4 - latest possible

Dock is connected to Dell/Lenovo laptop, and on dock i have S3422DWG over HDMI (which came with monitor, tested with other cables nothing changed) and Dell U2415 monitor is connected over DP.

If i select native resolution on my S3422DWG i have problem like what another person has described on link bellow, but if i choose bigger resolution 3840x2160 then picture is full screen, but it is scaled and its not clear.

I found one this article: https://www.dell.com/community/en/conversations/monitors/s3422dwg-native-resolution-3440x1440-over-hdmi-not-working/661573880430a86d2842a588

I dont understand whats the issue? If bigger resolution CAN work... why would native resolution be a problem in this case scenario (which is lower then the one which is "working"

is there a way to fix this? and both monitors are connected to my PC. S34 is over DP connected to VGA while U24 is connected over HDMI to VGA. thats why i can not change them like a workaround.

fun fact... on my a bit older Latitude this worked like a charn

You lost me on the references to VGA. None of these three devices have VGA?

The WD22TB4 has the following video out ports =
USB-C/DP 1.4
DP 1.4
DP 1.4
HDMI 2.0
TB4
TB4

The S3422DWG has the following video in ports =
HDMI 2.0
HDMI 2.0
DP 1.4

The U2415 has the following video in ports =
HDMI
HDMI
DP
mDP

Connect like this and retest =

Precision 5570 AC power adapter connected to Precision 5570 left side back TB4/USB-C/Power port
WD22TB4 power adapter and power cord connected to power outlet and WD22TB4
WD22TB4 USB-C cable --> Precision 5570 left side middle TB4/USB-C/Power port

WD22TB4 #1 DP 1.4 out port --> S3422DWG DP 1.4 to DP 1.4 cable --> S3422DWG #7 DP 1.4 in port
WD22TB4 #2 DP 1.4 out port --> U2415 DP to DP cable --> U2415 #4 DP in port

@DELL-Chris M

hello Chris,

thank you for your replay.

is there a way to fix this? and both monitors are connected to my PC. S34 is over DP connected to VGA while U24 is connected over HDMI to VGA. thats why i can not change them like a workaround. - VGA like integrated graphic card within PC case

for purpose of test, i went and tested your suggestion and its working.

but... i have primary setup, PC case with 2 monitors. 1x S34 over DP and 1x U2415 over HDMI

and i have laptop for work with docking station (have also older models which i have used before). S34 has occupied DP, so i have to use HDMI to connect is to DOCK, and U2415 has HDMI occupied, so i have to use DP to connect is to DOCK. only reason why i bough DOCKs was to have this kind of a setup.

this setup, with various laptops over the years i was using, and it worked l ike a charm. not sure what happened with native resolution... i am also not sure where is the problem. when i connect monitor directly on Lenovo (it has hdmi port) its showing native resolution without any problems. could it be that dock is a problem? it was working normally till maybe 2 weeks ago.
