T3610 Power Supply - 900W or 1300W?
Hi everyone
I've got a 685W Dell T3610 which works well so far but would like to upgrade to a 320W video card (3080 RTX).
Is it possible to swap out the power supply with a 900W or 1300W power supply? They seem physically compatible, but I wasn't sure if that was the case.
Thank you !

Hi @catubc ,
Yes, those 1300w PSU works on T3610. Just like what described in this link:
Besides, I tried a GALAX 3080 SG on my dual-CPU T5600 with 825w PSU. Everything works fine with stock clock. But of course it would be much safer to use a more powerful PSU while 3080 is a power-hunger monster.

Hi
Thanks so much for the fast response. That's great to hear, I ordered a 1300W just in case anyways.
I am a bit concerned that the mobo slot for the PCIex3.0 where I will plug the 3080 RTX says: "75W + 225W external" and that the RTX is rated up to 320W.
Any suggestions re: this ?

Hi again,
"75W + 225W external" stand for 75w from PCIe slot + 75w from 6pin + 150w from 8pin. Instead of 6+8pin, you can change to 8+8Pin to fulfill 3080's requirement.
Same as my T5600, power distribution board of your T3610 comes with a single 8pin female port for VGA only.
In my case, I use a 8pin-male-to-8pin-male VGA power cable (P/N: 0G3W07) together with a 8pin-female-to-dual-8pin-male cable:
You can do it the same way on your T3610. Check out my other post for details.

Hi bmcowboy 1. So first of all, I got the 1300W power supply today and it doesn't seem to fit into the chassis! Basically there is a grove at the top of the power supply that doesn't quite align in both systems. I'm not sure if Dell and generated a poor design, or whether it was inteded as a safety precaution so that the 1300W PSU is NOT installed in 3610s? Alternatively there may be multiple versions of the 1300W and I got the wrong one. So I'm out $200 for now. 2. My default PSU is 685W so I just went ahead and split the 8pin to 2 x 8pins and powered the card. So far the PC does boot I'm quite worried about the 150W rating on the 8pin connectors. I've read in a few places that it's critical to get the RTX powered by 2 independent 8pins otherwise the cables might overheat and burn down your PC. Do you have any other suggestions? I'm thinking about using a non-OEM power supply, but it seems these Dell motherboards are quite odd and the 24pin mobo connector is hard to find. Thanks so much for the help with this. Cat

There is an 825W power supply
no idea if it works for 3610 YMMV
You may even be able to just buy a cable for the black connector
https://www.amazon.com/COMeap-Power-Adapter-Cable-13-inch/dp/B07HCYDK5K/
This however is not guaranteed and will NOT support a 300W card with a 625w power supply
It might work with a 825w however YMMV
K61PK - 825W Power Supply
I don't work for dell or comeap and this is not an official GPU cable like the D92C9 Graphics Card Aux Power Cable 2x 6 pin
There are no sets of dual 8 pin X 2 cards -
provisions on the standard 3610 5810 7810
If you fry and die or have board fire problems thats on you
If you Fry and Die plugging random cables from Joe's crab shack into your board thats on you. You will have to figure out much of this yourself
The differences are because more pins are wired on the Power board for 58XX 7XXX systems.. I'm not saying 5810 power board and cables do not work but im also not saying that they do.
i do not know if you can use the 5810 power board and the cables that go with it.
In other words 599RD Distribution Board T3610 to M6NP2 Power Distribution Board 5810
T3610 59rrd and cablespsu board 59RRD NOTE ONLY ONE CPU WHITE CONNECTOR
You should take out a cable at a time and see what goes where. GET THE DPN FOR EACH CABLE
replace each cable after you get the DPN PPID of the cable
The numbers for the 3610 I am guessing I do not have something to look at.

Ahh...so the higher PSU's won't work in the 3610? Any other options for higher wattage power supply for more recent graphics cards, especially more than 1?

Assuming I wanted to replace the 8pin cable that splits into two from VGA2, can i replace it with a 8pin to 8pin that doesn't split to go from VGA2 into GPU? (for an Rx580 Gaming X which also uses 8pin)

@Zentruth
Hi,
Did you figure out how to use male to male 8 pins?
thanks
