ME5024 - Snapshot and Replication

Folks,

The Storage is working fine, thank you all for the help.

So, could you someone explain Snapshot and replication to me? What are they for? Is it imperative I use them? Why?

Thank you again

WRcariflex,

Let me see if I can answer those for you.

1. ME Snapshots are storage hosted snapshots of the block storage
2. You do not have to take snapshots at all
          1. Generally you base frequency of snapshots on RTO and RPO
3. It depends on the reason the VM crashed
          1. Snapshots let you recover to a point in time in the past of how data was then
          2. Any changes since the snapshot would be lost
          3. If you are looking for proper VM backups, you may want to look at things like VEEAM
4. You can see them in the GUI and there are CLI commands you can use
          1. GUI options are covered in the Admin Guide
          2. CLI options are covered in the CLI guide

Let me know if this helps.

Hello, thanks for choosing Dell.
Snapshots take you to the spots easily that you want to go back.
Maybe this would help your understanding further:

Hi

I have this manual, because that I asked. So, I´d like to understand:

1- Snapshots are my backups from my VMs or Data Volume in the storage?

2- Do I need to make snapshots every day?

3- If my VM crash, may I use the snapshot to recover at the same data?

4- How can I see if I have snapshots created?

Thank you
