ME5012 Performance Graph

Good day,

Our ME5012 has 2 volumes configured. When we add a performance graph by volume, only the first volume does show data. For the second volume each graph by Volume shows 0. Is that a known behaviour? The second volume has a "-" in its name (Volume-2) - is that maybe a problem?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Best regards

Michael

Rs_tech,

Would you do me a favor and confirm if your volume names have either spaces or dashes in them, and if so, if removing them resolves the issue?
I ask as they can cause this issue, which we are currently working on resolving.

Let me know what you see and if this helps.

Hi Chris,

Thanks for your response. Yes, the volume has a dash in its name. Does a rename of the volume has any impact on the host connections?

Best regards

Hi Michael, as i know renaming a volume typically does not impact the host connections. Because as the connections are usually on unique identifiers of the volumes. I think you may need rescan disks after renaming.

The name or serial number of the volume to change. A name that includes a space must be enclosed
in double quotes. Page 174 Dell PowerVault ME5 Series Storage System CLI Reference Guide
Examples Rename volume Vol1 to Vol2.

Hi Erman, Thank you. We have renamed the volume (now called SSD) but it doesn't change anything. When we add a performance graph for this volume all values are always 0. Any more suggestions?

Thanks.

Rs_tech,

Thank you for the details. What I would recommend is that you pull a support bundle, as described here. Then upload it to your service request, which I will Private Message you the sr# for , as described here. After that we can see if we can determine the cause.

Thank you. Let me review the logs for you and get back to you. In the meantime I did come across this document, which could explain the issue you are seeing.

Hi Chris,

This is not the issue we are seeing. We are not using LDAP login and we are not seeing  "failed to load graph data".

As explained only volume performance graph is not working for one of the 2 volumes.

Hi Chris,

Did you checked the logs and maybe find the issue?

Hello,

Is the issue the same if you are logging into either controller?

Could you get a maintenance window and update the firmware?
