Powerpath/VE with rotating root user password

Hi,

in our environment we have integrated root accounts of ESX (5.1) servers into a password manager. Every time a user has used the root account the password will change automatically. I assume this is a pretty big issue with auto-registering esx server via the rpowermt autoregistration function. Also each time the password changes the password in the lockbox must be updated.

Is there any other solution to this?

What about an additional root account just for powerpath. Is that recommended? White papers / installation manuals and Guides are very thin on this topic.

Thanks

Simon

Hi Simon,

Customer can use CIM Session ID is they want to avoid using frequently changing passwords. Its best to script powermt commands using CIM Session ID . More details will be mentioned in PowerPath/VE product guide and remote CLI guide on how to use CIM session ID with rpowermt. Please visit support.emc.com to download the documents.

Thanks,
